Welcome back my less then 10 readers! Hope all is well! So having a week off last week meant I didn't get much listening in since I mostly do this while traveling to and from places. that said, I did listen to enough music since the last post to have yet another goof number of quick reviews. At list it's to the power of 5!
Here it is, for you to do what you want with.
0270 The Rolling Stones – Exile on Main St - Mine, and everyone else on the planet, favorite Stones album. A ramshackle mess that comes off as honest and pure rock n' roll. Buy it.
0271 Lynyrd Skynyrd – Pronounced Leh-nerd Skin-nerd - It has Free Bird and Simple Man on it, so this is the only Skynyrd album you need because that Southern Man song is retarded.
0272 The Incredible Bongo Band – Bongo Rock - I was expecting to hate this because both the band and album have horrendously awful names. Which is a shame since this was some pretty kick ass instrumental rock, with yes, prominent bongos!
0273 David Bowie – Aladdin Sane - The last of the awesome Bowie trifecta of Hunky Dory, Ziggy. Except this ones not so awesome. It's not bad, it's just not as good. I would of skipped this one on the list and subbed in "The Man Who Sold The World".
0274 King Crimson – Lark’s Tongues in Aspic - Another King Crimson album to sleep through.
0275 Bob Marley & the Wailers – Catch a Fire - It's reggae, and Bob Marley. And because I typed that sentence, you know EXACTLY what to expect on this.
0276 Hawkwind – Space Ritual - I was a little leery of this one since I knew Lemmy was on it, so I wanted to love this. I didn't love it, but it was pretty damned good. A live record that sounds like one giant kick ass metal riff broken up by terrible poetry. Sounds terrible, but I liked it.
0277 John Cale – Paris 1919 - The other guy from the Velvet Underground shows up with a shitty record. He's better at collaboration.
0278 Can – Future Days - Another Can album to that goes nowhere. I find it hard to believe that this band was popular enough to appear on this list numerous times since the albums are so forgettable.
0279 Lou Reed – Berlin - Many consider this one of the most depressing albums of all time. It just might be. That said, I've always liked it. Lou is in top notch form, and "The Kids" is still pretty harrowing to listen to.
0280 Genesis – Selling England by the Pound - Genesis = Phil Collins which means this is a joke right? Plus, it's early prog rock Genesis. So why did I happen to like this as much as I did?
0281 Marvin Gaye – Let’s Get it On - The truth behind all social and political commentary as seen in his previous album "What's Going On" comes out here. Guys want to get laid, and will do anything to impress the ladies. This audio ear fuck masterpiece of cooing is almost at the assault level of sexual.
0282 John Martyn – Solid Air - The asshole on this album is so laid back I couldn't understand a word he was singing half the time. The he rocked out and I wanted him killed. This shouldn't appear on any list, it should be scrubbed From the earth and forgotten like the small pox of audio it is.
0283 Roxy Music – For Your Pleasure - Bryan Ferry sings songs that sound like the stuff Bowie would do later on. How odd. And oddly enjoyable other then the title track which is the shits.
0284 Faust – IV - Sounds like early German techno, despite not being German or techno. I think maybe.
So there it is! Another list of music none of you have heard of. Nothing really earth shattering, except I'm getting deeply troubled by #0278, and the band "Can". They've appeared on here before, and they just really are a boring, droning prog rock, not Rush type of band. I've never really heard of them. Where they ever popular with their albums of 4 20 minute songs that go nowhere? do I have to break my life pledge and take a recreational drug to "get it". Is the name Can as in "You CAN do it!" or "A CAN of soup"? I'm going to have to investigate this further...
Thanks for reading my fives of fans!

1001 Albums: 238 - 269, What?
Alright dear readers, it's very clear that I will no longer be updating this every ten albums. It ends up that many of these albums are very short, and not all that interesting. So I will attempt to do this blog weekly instead of my current schedule of "Whenever I'm not too depressed to write it."
So here's another big ass chunk of music. For the most part, it's a lot of "Blah!" 1972-ish is a shitty time for music. I'm guessing everyone's nodded off on brown horse and making crap records. There are a few highlights though, so here they are.
Enjoy!
0238 Harry Nilsson – Nilsson Schmilsson - I was looking forward to this one, and wasn't disappointed. Nilsson wrote a bunch of my beloved Monkees best songs, and this was a great mix of tracks, and he has a fine voice. Makes you wonder why he wasn't an artists himself sooner, I guess his looks...
0239 T.Rex – Electric Warrior - It's easy to think of glam rock as a throw away genre, but this album is solid with a lots of heart. "I've Been Dancing" is a great track.
0240 David Bowie – Hunky Dory - Bowie comes into his own with this one, and all is right in the world.
0241 Randy Newman – Sail Away - Newman never could sing, but these tracks are all pretty good, incredibly sarcastic, looks at life and love.
0242 Deep Purple – Machine Head - "Smoke On the Water" is on here, so the rest is kind of a nice bonus.
0243 Big Star – # 1 Record - Should of been a #1 record. Teenage waste perfected.
0244 Black Sabbath – Vol 4 - A good Sabbath album where they are exploring different song directions, but oddly forgettable.
0245 Steely Dan – Can’t Buy a Thrill - Nope, I still don't like Steely Dan.
0246 Neil Young – Harvest - Neils big hit is one I've always liked, but don't love.
0247 Curtis Mayfield – Superfly: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack - An awesome blast of preachy soul that's been sampled to death by hip hop. I never did see the movie, but I've loved this album for years, you owe it to yourself to check it out.
0248 Slade – Slayed? - Rather forgettable glam rock.
0249 Deep Purple – Made in Japan - I started off really liking the crunch on this, but then it entered extended solo land and lost me.
0250 Yes – Close to the Edge - More shit squeezed from the Yes asshole.
0251 Lou Reed – Transformer - This is the album that put Lou over, and it is a damned fine one. I could go with less tuba though.
0252 Hugh Masekela – Home is Where the Music Is - His early stuff is rocking African jazz, but this is boring African jazz.
0253 Milton Nascimento & Lo Borges – Clube da Esquina (1972) - More Latin type stuff that just blurred together.
0254 Todd Rundgren – Something/Anything - I believe he did pretty much all the playing and producing on this, to bad it's lame 70's soft rock.
0255 Nitty Gritty Dirt Band – Will the Circle Be Unbroken? This is a pretty amazing album where classic traditional artists like Mother Maybelle Carter join the band.A great time capsule of a mostly lost music form.
0256 Stevie Wonder – Talking Book - Some consider this era to be Wonder's best, but I've never cared for it. Still don't.
0257 Stephen Stills – Manassas - Some great blues rock is saddled by some lame CSN style slow songs that ruin this from being great.
0258 T.Rex – Slider - Not as good as "Electric Warrior", at all.
0259 David Ackles – American Gothic - Pretty standard folk album.
0260 Eagles – Eagles (1st Album) - It's better then "Hotel California" and they actually show some balls. Still can't stand them though.
0261 Tim Buckley – Greetings from LA - Another "not as good as his first album" album.
0262 Nick Drake – Pink Moon - The last Nick Drake album comes off kind of unfinished and not as good as the others.
0263 Paul Simon – Paul Simon (1972) - Doesn't stray to far from Simon & Garfunkle, which is a very good thing.
0264 Roxy Music – Roxy Music (1st Album) - I'm not a Bryan Ferry fan, but this is actually quite good. Big, bold glam rock.
0265 Alice Cooper – School’s Out - Surprisingly straight forward considering how over the top Cooper is. Which means it's fun and decent.
0266 The Temptations – All Directions - The Temps go balls out on this one, in ALL DIRECTIONS! Get it? It's good.
0267 David Bowie – Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars - If Bowie did nothing else in the world, he'd still be remembered for this one. It's a fantastic album with no low points. Listen to it!
0268 War – World is a Ghetto - Funky political commentary, but a bit unfocused so I lost interest.
0269 Al Green – Let’s Stay Together - Al Green can fuck your ears like no other, check it out.
